*Credits
4.1, 4.2, 5.1 and 5.2:
Use of Recycled Materials; The reinforced concrete to manufacture
the building components contain recycled content. Common recycled
components within the concrete include fly ash and aggregate while
the reinforcing steel used within the precast building component
normally comprises 100% recycled steel. A project receives one point
if 5 percent of its content uses recycled material and two points
if 10 percent is recycled. |

| |
*Credits
1.1 & 1.2:
The precast concrete building components are strong, durable and
long lasting. During reconstruction or expansion there is no need
to replace the building components due to old age. These precast
components can maintain a complete shell of a building for a second
use. They can even be relocated to another site. |

|
*Construction
Waste Management Credit:
Plant casting is more resource - efficient in the use of formwork
and reduces waste generated at the construction site. Precast
aids the total needed for this credit, as it provides no on-site
waste.
*Less
formwork on site also means that less wood has to be purchased
for a project, which makes it easier to earn the Certified
Wood Credit.

| |
*20%
Material Made Locally Credit: If a minimum of 20 percent of
materials are manufactured within 500 miles of the building one
point is earned-- and if 50 percent of that 20 percent of materials
are "harvested locally" then the building gains another
point. In most cases the precast plant is within 500 miles of the
job site so this credit is earned. |
