Firm selected by 3 states to do precast cell construction
Telford, Pa, December 10, 2001- Oldcastle Precast Modular Group was
awarded the precast correctional cell contract for three new correctional
facilities in Vermont, Georgia and Maine.
Southern State Correctional Facility-Springfield, Vermont:
Oldcastle received the design-build contract for the 230 pre-finished,
fully out-fitted precast correctional cells, which will house 350
inmates, at the new $35,000,000 medium security correctional facility
in Vermont. The facility will have a total of 3 housing units which
will have both typical and handicapped cells. Our sister company,
Rotondo Precast in Rehoboth will be producing the cells. This is OPMG's
first project in Vermont. The general contractor - for this project
is Granger Northern Inc of Maine and SMRT Architects of Maine are
the Architect of Record.
Jackson High-Max Correctional Facility-Jackson, Georgia: OPMG
won their first contract in Georgia. The 192 modular precast concrete
cell and chase unit contract is for the new 2-story, 3 building high-maximum
security facility in Jackson, GA. The Modular Group will be designing,
engineering and producing a six-sided cell module that was specified
by Smallwood,Reynolds,Stewart,Stewart & Associates who are the
Architect of Record. The correctional cells will be pre-finished and
come completely out-fitted including insulation and pre-plumbed chase
units. The General Contractor for this project is Ray Bell Construction
Company, Inc out of Tennessee. Our sister company, Oldcastle Precast
of Stone Mountain, GA will be producing the correctional cells.
York County Jail-Alfred, Maine: The County of York, Maine
has selected Granger Northern, Inc of Maine as the General Contractor
for the new 225 bed, 2-story, 7 Building jail in Alfred, ME. OPMG
was awarded the contract to design, engineer and produce the 168 typical
and handicapped correctional cells. The cells will be pre-finished,
fully-outfitted and come with a pre-plumbed chase unit. Two of the
seven buildings will be housing units. One housing unit will be minimum
to medium security and the other will be segregation/disciplinary
housing. SMRT Architects of Maine are the Architect of Record. Completion
of the facility is scheduled for September 2002.
