Oldcastle Awarded Contract for 3,000 precast correctional
cells
TELFORD, PA, SEPTEMBER 20, 2001 - Largest contract to date. Oldcastle
Precast Modular Group was awarded the precast contract for three of
the nine planned 1000 cell close security prototype state correctional
facilities in North Carolina. This is Oldcastle's first major contract
in the Southeast. The three facilities, located in Scotland, Anson
and Alexander Counties, N.C. are expected to be completed by the
end of 2002. Each will house approximately 1000 adult inmates. The
close-security prototypes will feature fully out-fitted correctional
cells and be customized as quad modules (four cells per module) versus
the standard two cell per module. Each facility is designed with five
2 and 4 story-interconnecting buildings that will house 1000 correctional
cells. Oldcastle's sister facility, the new Fuquay Plant in Varina,
N.C. will be producing the 3,000 correctional cells. Managing the
project for OPMG is Sandra Marks Senior Project Manager.
Centex Rooney Construction Company of Orlando, FL is the General Contractor
and Little & Associates of N.C. is the Architect of Record.
