Oldcastle to Manufacture Precast Cells for new All-Female Jail in Chicopee, MA

Chicopee, MA - September 2005 ---Oldcastle Precast Modular Group has recently received the contract for the design, prefabrication and on-site erection of the 120 custom precast concrete prison cells that will make up the housing units for the new Hampden County Women's Correctional Facility. The $ 28.7 million jail will total 110,000 square foot and the campus will occupy 20 acres. The new woman's Jail will house inmates from four western Massachusetts counties. The jail will be the only all-female jail in the state and will house as many as 352 inmates.

Oldcastle will be fully outfitting 96 pre-painted cells with all electrical and lighting fixtures, windows, bunks, combination lavatory/water closet units or ADA lavatories with water closet, shelves, stools, desks, mirrors and plumbing before shipping to the site. In addition, 24 single, minimum security precast cells will be produced with no chase.

Completion is scheduled for 2007.
