West Chester School District to use Precast for
Classroom Addition
TELFORD, PA, AUGUST 15,2002 - West Chester Area School District has
selected a new precast building system for the new six (6) classroom
addition to B. Henderson High School in West Chester, Pennsylvania.
West Chester Area School District needed safe, durable and efficient
classroom space fast. They selected this method of construction because
the new modular precast concrete pieces, when erected, complete the
entire concrete classroom structure in days and met all of their specifications
and schedule.
Oldcastle Precast Modular Group of Telford, PA won the contract to
design, engineer, produce and erect the precast concrete school building
components that will make up the 768 square foot classrooms. The precast
pieces selected to complete the classroom addition are: twelve (12)
12'-0" school block modules with floor slabs, twelve (12) wall
panels (12'-2" x 11'-1" high) and three (3) Corridor Roof
Slabs (10'-5" w x 24'-6 ½" long). The exterior walls
are insulated and will be pre-painted at the factory with Ameron anti-graffiti
paint system. The interior classroom walls are also pre-painted before
shipping to the job site.
Production of the precast pieces began August 15, 2002 and will be
completed Sept. 3, 2002 with erection of the structure beginning on
Sept. 9th.
F.W. Houder, Inc of Paoli, Pa. is the general contractor for this
project and Gilbert Architects of Lancaster, Pa is the Architect of
Record.
