Oldcastle awarded precast prison cell contract
for
Illinois Department of Corrections Maximum Security Facility
Telford, Pa, Nov. 2002 --Oldcastle Precast Modular Group has announced
that it has recently been awarded the contract to design, manufacture,
deliver and erect the custom precast prison cells for the new Illinois
Department of Corrections Maximum Security Facility in Grayville,
IL. The new $113,000,000 million facility will consist of 8 Housing
Units (200 beds each), an Administrative Building, Warehouse/Maintenance
Building, Gymnasium/Food Service/Support Building, Programs Building,
one 200-bed, Minimum Security Housing Unit, Gun Towers and Sallyport
building.
A special feature of the 652,000 square foot correctional facility
project is the unique cell furniture (concrete bunk, shelf and desk)
and the 5-sided precast shower modules that are specified. The maximum-security
facility housing units will be composed of 1,600 out-fitted 85 sq.
ft. precast prison cells and 64 pre-plumbed precast shower modules
(3 stalls per shower module).
Oldcastle's scope of work includes precast engineering, manufacturing,
delivery and erection of the precast prison cells and shower modules.
The prison cells will be delivered outfitted with furniture and lighting
fixtures and include thirty-two multi-purpose rooms, and be ready
to be connected in the field.
