Housing Expansion at George W. Hill Correctional Facility

Pa, September 9,2003- George W. Hill Correctional Facility-Unit
10 Expansion-located in Thorton, Pennsylvania is expanding to add
an $11 million Unit 10 Housing section to its' facility. The two-story-Unit
10-housing building will be a full precast building constructed of
104 precast prison cells and additional precast pieces. The building
will be divided into two sections, each with a dayroom and enclosed
recreational area. There will be a chapel and storage area adjacent
to the building.
Oldcastle
Precast Modular Group was awarded the contract to design, engineer,
manufacture and erect the 104 precast cells, wall panels, columns,
beams, hollow core plank, double tees and slabs. The precast cells
will be fully outfitted with doors, bunks, desk, stools, combination
unit, mirror, light fixtures and stainless steel windows before shipping
to the site. The interior of the cells will also be pre-painted with
epoxy paint and the exterior finish of the cell will be a smooth form
finish.
