Oldcastle
completing precast cells contracts for 2 CCA prison expansion projects
in Florida
Telford, PA, February
2005 - Oldcastle Precast Modular Group (OPMG) was awarded the precast
cell contracts for Corrections Corporation of America's (CCA) expansion
projects at Lake City Correctional Facility and St. Lucie County Jail
in Florida. This is the first time that Oldcastle is supplying precast
concrete prison cells for CCA private facilities.
The 20.5 million
expansion at St. Lucie County Jail in Fort Pierce, Florida, is a two
pod expansion that was designed by Schenkel Shultz Architects. Centex-Rooney
is overseeing the construction.
OPMG designed,
manufactured and erected the 580 fully out-fitted precast concrete
prison cells which will include 280 maximum security units and 280
medium security units. The medium security cells will house four prisoners
each and will provide improved security. The maximum security cells
will house two prisoners each.
The 298 cell expansion
at Lake City Correctional Facility in Lake City, Florida is a new
three- 2-story -building expansion. There will be two buildings with
272 general housing cells and one building with14 segregated housing
cells. DLR Group is the Architect of Record and Centex Rooney is overseeing
the construction.
OPMG designed,
manufactured and erected the 298 fully outfitted precast concrete
prison cells that will make up the three new inmate housing units.
Oldcastle's sister
facility in Jacksonville, Florida manufactured the precast building
components for both projects.
