CCA USING OLDCASTLE PRECAST PRISON CELLS TO DOUBLE INMATE CAPACITY AT CITRUS COUNTY FACILITY

March 2006 Telford,PA / Citrus County,FL: To alleviate inmate crowding, Citrus County is adding 360 beds to its 398-bed jail in Lecanto, Florida. Corrections Corporation of America -CCA is building the $18.5 million detached 2-story, 360-bed housing unit for the county. The new unit will house U.S. Marshals Service inmates until the county needs the beds. In addition to the housing unit, the facility expansion will include a partially covered outdoor recreation area and a detached medical building.

Oldcastle Precast Modular Group is manufacturing, outfitting with furniture and fixtures and erecting the 180 precast concrete prison cells and 6 precast shower modules that will make up the new inmate housing unit. Oldcastle will produce the precast cells at their sister facility in Jacksonville, FL. This inmate housing expansion marks Oldcastle's third prison project with Corrections Corporation of America.

The general contractor for this project is Moss & Associates of Florida and the Architect of Record is the DLR Group of Nebraska.
