The National
Precast Concrete Association's Building, Housing, Landscape &
Specialty Product Awards were presented at the Membership Breakfast
during 2003 MCX and the NPCA Convention in Salt Lake City, Utah. These
awards recognize innovative and/or cost-saving advantages of precast
concrete in one of three categories: Building and Housing Products;
Landscape Architecture Products; and Site Amenities (or Specialty)
Products.
In the
Building and Housing Products category, top honors went to
Oldcastle Precast Modular Group of Telford, Pennsylvania for Five
Points Correctional Facility in Romulus, New York. This impressive
project involved over 4,000 precast concrete building components that
consist of 5 housing buildings, administrative areas and support buildings.
The entire project was produced in just 109 days and erected in a
record setting time of 75 days. The project was completed 4 weeks
ahead of schedule .
